A Quick Tip To Get PowerShell Version Using Registry

PowerShell ships with Windows 7 installation. The following registry entry can be checked on computers running Windows 7:

  • Key Name: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\PowerShell\1\PowerShellEngine
  • Entry Name: PowerShellVersion
  • Value: 1.0 or 2.0

The above registry entries exist by default with Windows 7 computers.
