Even or maybe particularly with the massively large hard drives we now have in
our PCs, we need to do periodic maintenance or we are going to run into trouble.
One of the better utilities comes pre-installed on XP – Disk Cleanup. Startup by
either :
- Click Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk
Cleanup
- Click Start | Run | cleanmgr
- Right-click disk in Windows Explorer or My Computer | click Properties
General tab | click Disk Cleanup
Another utility you need to run is Disk Defragmenter:
- Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools |
Disk Defragmenter
- Click Start | Run | dfrg.msc
- Click Start | Administrative Tools | Computer Management |
Expand Storage | Disk Defragmenter
