How To Change The Bakcup Interval Of DHCP Database

There are three ways to take the backup of DHCP Database in Windows Server 2008:

  • Synchronous Backups (occur automatically every 60 minutes)
  • Asynchronous Backups (performed using the DHCP Console)
  • Windows Backup (using Wbadmin.msc in Windows Server 2008)

By default, DHCP Service takes backup of its database every 60 minutes. You can change this default behavior by modifying the following registry value:

  • KEY Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCPServer\Parameters
  • Entry Name: BackupInterval
  • Value: {in minutes}
