Search the Internet from the Windows 7 Start Menu

The search field on the Start Menu of Windows 7 is a great way to scour your PC for programs, files, and email messages. You might be wondering why you can’t search the web like in Windows Vista. Well, you actually can once you enable this functionality via Group Policy:

  1. On the Start Menu search box, type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
  2. Go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
  3. Double-click Add Search Internet link to Start Menu, and then on the dialog box, select Enabled.
  4. Click OK and close the Group Policy Editor.

Now when you type in the search box, you can click the Search the Internet link and it will bring
