Windows 2000 doesn’t detect Iomega parallel port ZIP drive

Although they are not very common any more, there are still a LOT of them
around. If it is not detected on boot, tell W2K to use legacy PnP mode.

  • Right-click My Computer
  • Click Properties
  • Select Hardware tab
  • Expand the Ports (COM & LPT) entry
  • Right-click Printer Port (LPT1) entry
  • Select Properties
  • In the Port Settings tab, select the Enable legacy Plug and Play detection
    option
  • Reboot
You may need to run the Add/Remove Hardware control panel
applet. If it still does not work, try the following registry hack:

Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Parallel\Parameters

Name: ParEnableLegacyZip

Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1
