If you create updated master images for your deployments from time to time, you need a way to keep track of the version of each image. A quick and easy way of doing so is to do the following while logged onto your master image and before you sysprep and capture it:
- Open Regedit, and locate the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation
- Create a new string value named Model under this key and use it to specify the version number of the image
- After you do this, click Start and right click on Computer. Under System you'll find the model (version) number displayed.
