Microsoft just announced the launch of Try Azure Cosmos DB for free, an experience that lets anyone try out the capabilities of Azure Cosmos DB without having to go through the Azure sign up process or pay for an account. The offer is only available for a limited time. And Microsoft is collecting feedback from users so that it can improve the product even more in the future. What is Azure Cosmos DB?
Azure Cosmos DB is a globally distributed multimodel database service that’s built to scale for any size business or organization. It’s designed to let users elastically and horizontally scale both throughput and storage across any number of geographical regions. The service also offers comprehensive Service Level Agreements for throughput, latency, availability, and consistency.
How to try Azure Cosmos DB for free
If you’re interested in trying the database service during this limited time offer, you can quickly and easily sign up on the service’s website. From there, you can choose the model of your choice and sign in using your Microsoft Account or Live ID. From there, you’ll be directed to your new account page for Azure Cosmos DB, where you can open the Azure portal and try out some of the Quick Start options provided.
Within the Azure portal, you can navigate the browser and follow Quick Starts to get a running app connected to Azure Cosmos DB in less than 30 seconds. Or you can simply explore the service on your own.
Additionally, when you’re in the portal you’ll be able to see how long you have before your free account expires. You can also extend the trial period for an additional 24 hours, sign up for a free trial account, or create a brand new Azure Cosmos DB account.
