Being a Consumer

A lot of my day job, and my extra jobs for that matter, are all about creating content. I write white papers, blogs, newsletters, slide decks, emalis, etc., etc. I think it’s really important to create content for the community. However, what I’ve been trying to concentrate on lately is consuming technical content of all kinds. I’ve always been a big podcast listener and I used to read a ton of blogs, but over the last couple of years I found myself only Googling for blogs I needed at the time.

A friend of mine turned me on to Newsblur and even gave me a list of blogs he reads that I could easily import. Since then, every day I try to spend about an hour or so reading blogs. Some are the business of tech, others are actually quite technical. I highly recommend checking out Newsblur if you’re looking for a replacement of Google Reader or the like. If you’re interested in what I’m reading, reach out to me on Twitter @Malhoit and I’d be happy to share!
