Controlling power settings using Group Policy
One of the annoyances of running as a non-admin on my computer is that I don't have the ability to change the power scheme on my machine. That's because administrative credentials are required to modify machine settings, and if you're a thoughtful admin then you'd rather have your users run as domain users and not local admins on their computers. I was interested to discover however that Microsoft has a workaround for this issue, and you can use Group Policy to create a policy setting that you can use to allow or prevent targeted users from changing their power settings.
