Enable Network Map for Public or Domain Networks

If you use the Network Map feature in Vista, you may have noticed it doesn’t work when the network connection is classified as Public, or you're using a domain network. However, you can enable it for either of these networks; here’s how:

  1. Run gpedit.msc from the Start menu search field.
  2. On the Group Policy Object Editor, browse to: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> Link-Layer Topology Discovery.
  3. Individually right click the Mapper I/O (LLTDIO) and Responder (RSPNDR) drivers and click Properties. Then on their Properties dialog check the appropriate options to allow public and/or domain connections.
