Google-Citrix partnership extended with announcement of new offerings

The Google-Citrix partnership has been extended as both companies ramp up an alliance that has helped deliver secure, cloud-based applications to enterprises. The two companies have worked together since 2010 to deliver applications to Chrome devices and manage their Android deployments. Now, the two entities are working to help businesses access secure digital workspaces in the cloud.

Of course, this announcement could lead to some major new innovations for enterprise customers of both Google and Citrix. Here are some new updates that are already being offered or in the works thanks to Google and Citrix’s extended partnership.

One of the biggest changes announced by the two companies is that Citrix Workspace will be coming to Google Cloud Platform. This will enable organizations to run those workspaces directly within GCP, ensuring a more seamless experience instead of forcing administrators to switch back and forth between platforms.

NetScaler CPX and ShareFile integrations

In addition, NetScaler CPX now runs on GCP, allowing the Google developer community to utilize containers and the Kubernetes orchestration system to build and scale secure applications. And ShareFile will also be integrated with G Suite so users can securely share files through Gmail and a ShareFile connector to Google Drive. Other integrations will follow along with Google Cloud Launcher availability for ShareFile

Citrix Receiver enhancements

Citrix Receiver for Chrome will also get several enhancements to make the experience on Chrome OS devices more secure and easy to use. Enhancements include multimonitor support, which is available now. The goal is to ensure Chrome OS devices remain a secure and easy-to-use cloud endpoint solution to deliver virtualized apps and corporate data.

Additional product announcements

Looking forward, the Google-Citrix partnership is expected to release even more products and enhancements as part of this alliance. The first of those announcements should come at the Citrix Summit in January 2018.
