Google just announced a new fully managed Google Cloud Platform (GCP) service that it’s calling Google Cloud IoT Core. The new solution aims to make it easy for users to securely connect globally distributed devices to GCP and then manage them and build rich applications all in one central platform. It also offers analytics and insights so you can make sure your connected devices are running as efficiently as possible to support your operations.
Here are some more details about the new offering and what it can mean for organizations.
Benefits of Google Cloud IoT Core
For businesses that use connected devices, there’s a good chance that the tech used by those devices is going to vary. And not all of it is necessarily as secure as you’d like it to be. So Google Cloud IoT Core gives you a way to connect those devices to one central and secure management platform.
Aside from giving you a central platform to manage connected devices, Google Cloud IoT Core also lets you access new operational insights that can help your organization learn and make necessary changes in real time. For example, you can use the insights to monitor energy use, locate and arrange vehicles for shipping and transportation, and even monitor and schedule maintenance on equipment.
Features of Google Cloud IoT Core
To get started with this program, Google Cloud IoT Core allows you to connect your devices quickly using the industry-standard MQTT protocol. It also includes industry-standard security protocols and an auto-managed infrastructure so you can simply pay as you go instead of having to set up a complicated system right away.
In addition, Google Cloud IoT Core features native integration with analytics services like Google Cloud DataFlow, Google BigQuery, and Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine. You can also connect it to partner BI solutions like Looker, Qlik, Tableau, and Zoomdata.
