Hugs your kids today… no… NOW

I’m not writing about virtualization today.

Today, don’t work late. In fact, go home early and beat the traffic and when you get home, give your kids the biggest hugs you’ve ever given them. I stopped at my kids’ elementary school after lunch today and did just that and it was wonderful.

I truly don’t understand what would make someone walk into an elementary school and open fire on children, who have their whole lives ahead of them and so much to look forward to. It’s senseless, selfish, and evil. We have seen far too many of these tragedies in recent years and each one hit us all close to home.

Your VMware environment will still be there on Monday morning, but as we learn through tragedies such as the one that took place this morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, the lives of our children can be cut short no matter how much we try to protect them. So, spend every minute you can with them; love them; nurture them and make sure they always know that you’re their safe space and that they can count on you.

If you’re at work at your desk reading this blog post… you’re doing it wrong. Get up, get your coat and go get your kids, take them to a park and enjoy every second you can with them.
