So today I had a depressing issue trying to get the Hybrid Configuration wizard (HCW) complete successfully. In the verbose log, I saw the following error:
Updating hybrid configuration failed with error ‘Subtask Configure execution failed: Creating Organization Relationships.
Execution of the Get-FederationInformation cmdlet had thrown an exception. This may indicate invalid parameters in your Hybrid Configuration settings.
Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
Initially, I thought the issue was related to the TMG array that published autodiscover and EWS. But I had created a dedicated publishing rule for these two services configured to allow all users and clients to authenticate directly. In addition, I saw no denied connections in the TMG log nor an 405’s in the IIS logs.
After hours of troubleshooting, I thought I would try to reinstall the Windows Foundation Components by navigating to: “C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation” and from here run: “ServiceModelreg.exe –r”.
After the components had been reinstalled, I issued an “IISRESET” and ran the HCW again.
This time it completed successfully.
Yes go wonder…
Update
After writing this post, I discussed the issue with Tim Heeney (PM from the customer experience team) and he mentioned this posts in wrote in the past:
http://community.office365.com/en-us/wikis/exchange/677.aspx. So the issue is related to a missing handler mapping in IIS.
Until later,
