Installing out-of-box drivers from the command line when Windows is running

How to install out-of-box drivers from the command line when Windows is running.

If you need to install out-of-box drivers when Windows is running, you can use the pnputil /a command to do this. This works with most types of drivers but not with printer drivers. If you need to install printer drivers from the command line when Windows is running, you have two options:

Use the prndrvr.vbs script described at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754632.aspx

Use the rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry command described at http://blogs.technet.com/b/yongrhee/archive/2009/06/29/how-to-add-printers-with-no-user-interactiion-on-windows-7-windows-server-2008.aspx
