Log Files Of Server Manager

Windows Server 2008 Server Manager uses the log files for logging of installation and removal of roles and features. This is very useful when you need to diagnose a failure on Server Core or Full installation of Windows Server 2008.

The log file in Server Core is different from Full installation Server Manager. This is listed below:

  • When installing and removing roles or features in Server Core, the activity is logged in CBS.LOG
  • When installing and removing roles or features in Full installation, the activity is logged in ServerManager.log
