It's that time again, and this month's Patch Tuesday promises to keep IT personnel busy, testing and installing an unusually large number of security fixes from Microsoft. A total of seventeen security bulletins will address a whopping 64 vulnerabilities, with nine of the bulletins rated "critical." All versions of Windows - both client and server - are impacted, as well as Office, IE and other Microsoft products. This sets a record for number of vulnerabilities addressed (and ties the record for number of bulletins released). The good news is that some well-known vulnerabilities, such as the MHTML vulnerability and the SMB browser vulnerability are expected to be fixed in this round of patches.
