Microsoft says RT jailbreak poses no security risk

What does this mean to those of you who might have users in your organization connecting BYOD RT devices to your network? Apparently not much; Microsoft has issued a statement saying the jailbreak doesn’t pose a security threat. They also praised the “ingenuity” of the jailbreakers. That’s not to say they’re just fine with it; they also indicated that they may be planning to close up the hole in future releases.

There are plenty of folks who would like to be able to install additional desktop applications on their RT devices (it comes with versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and desktop IE as well as normal built-in Windows admin tools and utilities such as the Remote Desktop client) but the hack has limited usefulness at the moment.
