Migrating ISA 2006 EE Machines to a New Domain

Jim Harrison came up to the plate with a nicely ordered list when moving firewall array members and CSS from one domain to another. Here’s the list for your migration pleasure:

The least painful technique is a rolling migration.

1. Note the current Windows and ISA patch level

2. Export (back up) the current Enterprise configuration

3. Build the new management server in the new forest

4. Apply all Windows and ISA updates

5. Import the configuration

6. Remove ISA from one old array member

7. Relocate the server to the new forest

8. Reinstall ISA; joining the new forest array

9. Apply relevant Windows and ISA updates

10. Repeat 6-9 for the remaining servers

Tom
