Minimize Number Of Repeated Entries In System Log By NetLogon

NetLogon service related event log entries are recorded in the System Event Log. There are few Event Log entries which are logged repeatedly by the NetLogon Service. The default behaviour of NetLogon service is to repeat the Event Log entry every 4 hours. This may cause serious performance issue on few servers where other Services are running and heavily loaded by the Network requests. You might need to increase the value as per your requirement. To increase the default 4 hours, change the following registry entry:

  • KEY Name: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetLogon\Parameters
  • Entry Name: DuplicateEventLogTimeout
  • Type: REG_DWORD
  • Value: 0x3840 (4 hours)

0x3840 is the default value. This can be changed to as per your requirement. The maximum value is 0x418937 (47 days). The registry entry does not exist by default.
