The current U.S. administration is setting up a new government agency to bring about new laws governing Internet privacy. The Commerce Department will be making recommendations in a report to be issued in a few weeks and a task force was created to work on turning the recommendations into policy. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is also working on recommendations for regulating Internet business practices. What does all this mean to your organization? If your business is web-based, it could mean new restrictions and/or requirements regarding how you handle information you collect in the course of doing business.
