This is from a Facebook friend who experienced this phone-based scam firsthand:
i just got a call from “tech support agent” with what I perceived to be an Indian or Pakistani accent asking me if I was aware that my server was throwing off serious error messages and urging me to let him take over control of our servers. Of course I had heard this scam was going around but its the first time I experienced it. The caller ID was (212) 777-3456. When I called back the number was “Movie Phone”. So they are spoofing the caller ID.
I’m sure most readers here would not fall for this line, but be sure to pass the word on to newer IT personnel who might fall prey to it.
