Not bad for a company in a storage segment that barely even existed just three years ago! Now, companies like Nimble as well as their hybrid brethren Tegile and Tintri are a force to be reckoned with.
In a hybrid storage array, the vendor uses a combination of both solid state disks and traditional hard drives to create an environment that boosts both performance and capacity. Hybrid storage devices could be seen as the next step beyond all hard drive arrays for organizations that are starting to see performance challenges with all-HDD systems. In hybrid systems, the solid state storage devices are used as mega-caching mechanisms and, sometimes, as a performance storage tier.
With $168 million under its belt, Nimble will be able to continue to build its operational infrastructure for the long haul.
