The National Institute of Standards and Technology has just this month released Rev 2 of their Computer Security Incident Handling Guide, which provides a set of standard recommendations for organizations to use when establishing their incident response policies and practices. It is hardware- and operating system-agnostic and the 69 page guide includes detailed information on planning/organization (including policy development and the creation of the incident response team) along with actual handling of a security incident and how to coordinate efforts and share information.
