I actually read The Phoenix Project by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr, and George Spafford last year some time, but it’s definitely worth the mention on this blog. This book is actually a fictional account of an IT director and his struggle to incorporate DevOps into the IT department.
Though the book is fictional it gives a clear understanding of what DevOps is and describes how you can make your IT department more agile and efficient. I haven’t met an IT person that wouldn’t recommend this book and if you’re looking to break down barriers between silos at your company this is a great place to start. Though it’s not really an instructional book it gives a great idea of where to get started and motivates the reader to keep driving towards that idea.
