As smartphones are gradually taking over the PC market, cyber criminals are shifting their attention to smartphone-based malware. A recent live demonstration by the security expert Rik Ferguson showed how easy it is to build Trojan applications for smartphones. A UK initiative known as Get Safe Online is underway to educate users how to use the Internet confidently, safely and securely. Since, mobile phones are very personal and many users use them to perform regular ecommerce activities, cyber criminals may leverage this intelligence to perform more personalized attacks, such as spear phishing attacks.
