The Mysterious Case of a Failed Test Button Test

If you’ve created Web Publishing Rules on a TMG firewall, you know that there is a Test button that you can use to test the rule. While the Test button doesn’t test everything that goes into making the rule work, it does test key features such as name resolution and connectivity – which are critical components for a Web Publishing Rule to actually work.

Now we come to the case of the Failed to get domain controller name for this published server response after the Test button tests were done.

What would cause this to happen?

The result is very interesting and I think you’ll benefit from Eric Detoc’s analysis.
