Troubleshooting: Account not authorized for remote login error 2

Problem: You are trying to connect to a virtual machine on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V host that has RemoteFX enabled. You have done the following:

  1. Enabled RemoteFX on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V host that has a RemoteFX-certified graphics adapter.
  2. Installed Windows 7 Enterprise x64 in a virtual machine on the host.
  3. Added the RemoteFX 3D Video virtual hardware to the virtual machine.

You now attempt to connect to the virtual machine but get the error Account Not Authorized For Remote Login. If you uninstall the RemoteFX 3D Video virtual hardware however, you are able to connect to the virtual machine. What should you do?

Recommendation: Make sure you have added the account you are using to log on to the virtual machine to the Remote Desktop User’s group in the guest operating system on the virtual machine. This step is necessary even if your user account is al administrator account.
