The security firm Sophos has discovered a new backdoor Trojan horse on Mac OS X systems, that embeds itself and listens to an IRC channel for further instructions. Such instructions can lead to a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. Sophos is a security firm that provides a full range of endpoint, encryption, email, web and NAC products.
Sophos reminds Mac users that even though there is far less malware in existence for Mac OS X than for Windows, that doesn’t mean the problem is non-existent and in fact, Sophos has a short history of Mac malware published on its website.
