Virtualization is becoming ubiquitous, from the enterprise datacenter to small businesses that consolidate all of their servers on a single machine. But virtualization software, like any other, can have security vulnerabilities and needs to be kept updated. If you’re running VMware ESX/ESXi, be aware of new security updates released today. The advisory notes that this update is to patch a denial of service vulnerability in the Service Location Protocol Daemon (SLPD). The exploit works by overloading the processor.
