Windows 8 “Bootkit” exploits legacy firmware

If you’ve been hearing tales of a bootkit called Stoned Lite that attaches to the master boot record and bypasses UAC in Windows 8 so it can load before the OS starts up, you’ll be happy to know that it probably won’t effect new Windows 8 computers because it exploits old BIOS firmware, but not the newer UEFI technology that will replace the old BIOS on new Windows 8 machines.
