You can follow the recommondation to let Windows search for new hardware. If you install a legacy ISA Network card, Windows ME may not find it and then you need to select it from the list |

and select my specific network card (in this example: a 3COM 3C509B, configured as NON-Plug&Play) |

Windows ME is not able to detect the hardware settings for Input/Output Ports and Interrupt Request. In this example the values estimated by Windows were not correct. This required to define manually in the “Device Manager” (part of the Properties of “System”) for this network card: Tab: Resources the proper values. |
Such a change requires a restart of the system.
After the restart, check again in Device-Manager, that the Network card is working properly:
