Xtreme Podcast: Major disconnect — When 24/7 doesn’t add up

Welcome to this week’s installment of the Xtreme Minute. This is our weekly rundown of the TechGenix Xtreme Podcast with Louise Chalupiak and Peter King with links to articles on the week’s hot tech topics. Today we tackle a few topics about the business side of change.

The first article is a submission from me titled, Is there a right to disconnect? Should there be? Interestingly enough, while it is said that millennials are more prone to embrace work/life balance, it is these very employees who are apt to be connected 24/7, and this is leading to an array of unintended consequences.

Second up we go to Mitch Tulloch with his article, So much for ‘predictable expenses’: Is Office 365 busting your budget? We are really entering into uncharted territory with cloud providers and the total cost of service. While we are very early in the process, some enterprise organizations are already starting to realize that it isn’t as easy as we thought to budget for this type of expense.

Wrapping up is Twain Taylor with, How experimentation can lead to improved user experience. As we get swept along with the current of the major tech companies, we are finding the term UX to be the hot new talk around tech town. The question we ask is if incorporating user experience and staged rollouts is just another way of moving quality assurance to the end-user?
