A ‘double-edged sword’ security tool!

Read about the smartphone’s ‘double-edged sword’ software switch that helped Google remove malware from more than 250,000 infected Android smartphones within a short period of time. Major vendors such as Google and Apple, use what is called the kill switch technology that allows them to instantly and remotely purge any (unauthorized) content from the users’ machines. Microsoft will implement the same technology with its Windows 8 software for tablets and computers. The same technology for instance, can be used by hackers if breached or by governments in a bid to censor content! Can we really trust that the kill switch will only be used as a security benefit?
