Creating a System Repair Disc for Windows Vista or 7

With Windows Vista and Windows 7 you can access System Recovery Options without booting into Windows, great for fixing boot and startup issues. The Windows Recovery Environment can be preinstalled and available via the Advanced Boot Options menu (F8 at boot). When it’s not preinstalled, you can boot from a System Repair Disc to access the System Recovery Options.

You can create this System Repair Disc in Windows Vista or 7:
Click Start > All Programs > Maintenance > Create a System Repair Disc.

You can also download them from the Internet, such as from neosmart.net for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

When you boot up the disc, you’ll find the following System Recovery Options:

  • Startup Repair
  • System Restore
  • Windows Complete PC Restore
  • Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
  • Command Prompt
