We have so many dates set aside for special recognition of this or that, that it can be hard to keep up with them – but here’s one that’s important to those in the IT security business: October has been designated “Cyber Security Awareness Month.” We all know about the importance of multi-layered security and we’re all aware of the seven different layers of the OSI networking model that need to be secured – physical, data link, network, transport, session, presentation and application – but I really like the idea discussed in this blog post about the eighth (and most difficult to secure) layer – the “carbon” (human) layer.
