Cybercrime study reveals increasing costs!

A study conducted by Ponemon Institute published in August 2011 shows that costs related to the loss or theft of information, disruption to business operations, revenue loss and destruction of assets are on the increase when compared to last years’ results. Indirect costs include expenses in detecting, investigating and recovering from such attacks. Apart from the financial impact, the study reveals some interesting facts about the differences between SIEM protected and non-SIEM protected organizations, the increased costs if Cyber-attacks are not resolved quickly, and which elements have the highest impact on the total costs both internally and externally to an organization!

The most costly cybercrimes are those caused by malicious code, denial of service, stolen or hijacked devices and malicious insiders. To read the full report go here.
