Dell Technologies World 2019: Laptops for small business and home users

Dell launched and announced a series of revolutionary technologies and products for enterprises at Dell Technologies World 2019. But they also had some announcements of interest for small businesses and home users. Dell launched a set of new laptops, including a new set of 10th generation devices in its Latitude portfolio. The company also unveiled a few budget-friendly laptops in its Precision and Vostro portfolios. All the laptops launched vary in terms of specifications and features. All these laptops are priced between $600-$1,300. Here is a detailed look at all the new devices launched at Dell Technologies World 2019.

Dell Latitude

Dell unveiled its 10th generation of new laptops in the enterprise-graded Latitude series. The Latitude series of laptops is one of the company’s oldest yet most reliable line of commercial devices for both individual and enterprise use. Considering the growing number of cybercrimes, Dell has crammed these laptops with next-gen security features. Unlike most of the previous Latitude laptops, these new devices are sleeker and slimmer, making them easy to carry around.

Dell says that all these newly launched devices will completely revamp how IT departments work. The new Latitude laptops come with the company’s own ExpressCharge technology. Dell says the laptops can be charged up to 80 percent in just an hour using these new chargers. The high-end laptops, meanwhile, come with ExpressCharge Boost, which can charge the devices up to 35 percent in just 20 minutes. These laptops also come with ExpressConnect technology, which allows the devices to latch on to the most powerful wireless network available for better network and connectivity.

Latitude 7000

Dell launched laptops in Latitude 7000, Latitude 5000, and the smaller Latitude 3000 series. The Latitude 7000 is the highly specced series that comes in both 13-inch and 14-inch form factors. These laptops also come with narrow bezels and the digital SafeScreen mode, which reduces the display’s field of view for security and privacy purposes.

The company also launched a 2-in-1 convertible laptop at the event. This new convertible add-on to the Latitude series comes with a detachable keyboard. This convertible sports a 12-inch display and is one of the smallest and most portable devices offered in Dell’s Latitude series of laptops. These newly launched Latitude 7000 series of laptops start at $1,299 while the slimmer Latitude 7200 starts at $999.

Latitude 5000

These newly launched laptops have an all-new carbon fiber reinforced chassis for added durability. These laptops offer a wide range of business features and come with the latest set of specs for better performance. The devices come in various sizes including a 13-inch, 14-inch, and larger 15-inch variants. Also, the all-new convertible Latitude 5300 2-in-1 laptop comes with a 13-inch touchscreen display and can be configured according to the user’s needs. All these laptops are now available for purchase.

While the Latitude 5000 series of devices start at $819, the convertible Latitude 5300 starts at $949.

Dell Precision: New mobile workstations

Dell’s Precision workstations are globally renowned for their performance and efficiency. The Precision series has been making remarkable progress in enterprise-level tower and rack workstations. However, the company introduced two new affordable workstations: the Dell Precision 3540 and the Dell Precision 3541.

Precision 3540 is the most affordable mobile workstation launched in Dell’s Precision lineup. Even so, the device is packed with some powerful specs including 8th-Gen quad-core Intel processors paired with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, 2GB of dedicated graphics, and up to 2TB of onboard storage space.

The laptop sports a 15.6-inch full HD display that provides a vibrant viewing experience. The device runs Windows 10 out-of-the-box and can be customized by the user in terms of the specifications it offers. The device is available to buy now starting at $799.

Dell Precision 3541

The Precision 3541, on the other hand, comes with even more powerful specs. The device is powered by a 9th-Gen octa-core Intel processors paired with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. Graphics on the Precision 3541 are handled by up to 4GB of Nvidia Quadro professional graphics. The other specifications on the device are customizable as per the user’s need and requirements.

Both these laptops come with a fingerprint sensor for additional security and house an infrared camera along with shutter-camera features. The company says that these two new devices will be well-suited for heavy and powerful processing needed in autocad, graphics, machine learning, AI, and more.

Dell Vostro: Expansion

Dell’s Vostro series features a line of laptops meant for various uses. These laptops can be used by students, for general home purposes, and by companies. Dell expanded its Vostro series by launching two new devices, the Vostro 13 5000 and the Vostro 15 7000. Both these laptops are designed and built for small business professionals to carry out their everyday tasks.

Vostro 13 5000 is the thinnest and the lightest laptop ever made in the Vostro series. The laptop sports a 13-inch full HD display and is a mere 14.9mm thick. The device weighs only about 3 pounds and comes in an aluminum chassis for added durability.

The Vostro 15 7000, on the other hand, is the costlier and better-specced Vostro laptop launched at the Dell Technologies World event. It is a 15-inch laptop featuring a narrow-border full HD display. Both these laptops can be customized in terms of specifications and feature a fingerprint sensor and a hardware-based Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) security chip for added security.

Both these new Vostros are set to go on sale today, May 16. The Vostro 13 5000 will start retailing at $849 whereas its larger sibling, the Vostro 15 7000, starts at $1,149.

Apart from the laptops, the company also launched its very new next-generation of docks at Dell Technologies World. Dell say that these new docks are the world’s first modular docks offering the most powerful charging capabilities. These docks come in three connectivity options — ThunderBolt 3, dual USB Type-C, or a single USB Type-C options. These docks also feature the company’s proprietary ExpressCharge and ExpressCharge Boost technologies. They are available now and the price starts at $229.99.
