Different VPN tunnel types in Windows – which one to use?

It seems like forever that there were only two types of VPN connections you could use with Windows. You had your choice: PPTP or L2TP/IPsec. However, that changed with Vista and Windows Server 2008, which added the SSTP option.

Not to be outdone, the Windows Server RRAS team comes up to the plate with an even better option — VPN Reconnect (using IKEv2).

But which one should you choose? The RRAS Team provides a nice table of options and which choice is best for you depending on your limitations and requirements.
