Enabling Group Policy Debug Logging in Vista

In Windows Vista and later you can obtain additional detailed information concerning Group Policy processing by enabling debug logging. This can be useful when troubleshooting Group Policy processing issues. To enable debug logging, create a REG_DWORD registry value named GPEditDebugLevel under the following registry key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Assigning this new registry value a data value of 0x10002 will cause a GpEdit.log file to be created in the %systemroot%\debug\usermode folder.
