Google.ie and Yahoo.ie hacked DNS records could have resulted in a security catastrophe

According to Irish Domain Registry (IEDR) chief, two DNS nameserver records have been hijacked following an unauthorized access to a registrar account. The breached records which belong to Google.ie and Yahoo.ie could have redirected thousands of Irish users to fake websites for criminal purposes. But, luck and IEDR’s fast intervention saved the day for all concerned, especially the registrar responsible for these domains. The lucky part is that the perpetrators websites were overwhelmed with the redirected traffic and timed-out
