Apple Event 2019: Everything you need to know about the new iPhone 11

Summer is ending, and that means it’s that time of the year when Apple unveils its new lineup of products. At its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters yesterday, Apple launched the newest iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch, and more. Apple Event 2019 had a pack of announcements and updates to its existing products, hardware, and software. Apple finally announced the rollout dates and subscription prices of their Apple TV+ streaming service and Apple Arcade at the event. The company also unveiled its latest fifth-generation Apple Watches and seventh-generation iPads. The company concluded the event by the announcements of the much-awaited latest iteration of the iPhones. Apple unveiled three new iPhones this year—iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone Pro Max. While there was nothing extraordinary in the newly launched iPhones, there were a bunch of advancements and improvements from the previous siblings the iPhone XR and the iPhone XS series.

As it does at every year’s launch event, Apple did what it does the best: tweaking the existing lineup of devices with slight upgrades and making it seem like a revolution. However, something that was unique in this year’s launch is the pricing. Yes! Surprisingly, Apple managed to attract a huge audience (not just the Apple partisans) this year with its handsome pricing. Here is everything you need to know about the newly launched iPhones. iPhone 11: The cheapest of the lot has got a lot to offer

iPhone 11 was the cheapest iPhone launched in yesterday’s event. In fact, it is the cheapest iPhone announced by Apple in the past few years. The iPhone 11 has an anodized aluminum and glass body, and Apple said that the glass used on the iPhone 11 is the toughest glass they’ve used in any iPhone. The device has glass on both the front and the back.

iPhone 11 sports a 6.1-inch liquid retina display with a resolution of 1792 x 828 pixels. The device offers haptic touch feedback and offers true-tone wide-color display. Under the hood, the iPhone 11 is powered by the company’s latest A13 Bionic chip with third-gen neural engine for optimized performance. The base storage variant of the device starts with 64GB and goes up to 256GB.

Apple has baked the iPhone 11 with a dual 12-megapixels ultrawide and wide cameras. The wide camera on the device comes with an aperture of f/1.8 whereas the ultrawide camera comes with f/2.4 aperture with a 120-degree field of view. Apple says it has implemented neural engine, machine learning, and semantic rendering for better imaging. The device supports Smart HDR, stereoscopic depth for portraits, and creative depth of field. iPhone 11 also sports a 12-megapixels front-facing camera that now supports slow-motion videos. The device can record 4K videos at 60 frames per second across both cameras in the rear and on the front-facing camera.

The device is launching in six colors, including black, green, yellow, purple, red, and white. And despite the dual-camera setup and all the other features it packs in, the retail price of the iPhone 11 starts at a low (for Apple) $699.

iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max: The rumors have come true

The newly launched iPhones have been the talk of the town way before they were launched today. There were several rumors and renderings about these devices. Now that the device has been launched, we can affirm that most of the rumors were true.

The iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone Pro Max are made up of surgical grade stainless steel and come with a matte-textured finish. The iPhone 11 Pro sports a 5.8-inch super retina XDR display with a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels. The larger iPhone 11 Pro Max sports a huge 6.5-inch display with a resolution of 2688 x 1242 pixels. Both these handsets come with HDR multitouch display with up to 1200 nits of brightness.

iPhone 11 Pro

Under the hood, these handsets are powered by the A13 Bionic chip with third-generation of neural engine. The company said that the chipset is made using machine learning and low-power design and is capable of 1 trillion operations per second. These handsets sport a triple camera setup on the rear consisting of 12-megapixels wide, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras. All three cameras can record 4K videos at up to 60 fps. The iPhone 11 Pro and the Pro Max boasts a 12-megapixels front-facing TrueDepth camera. The iPhone 11 Pro starts at $999 while the larger iPhone 11 Pro Max starts at $1,099.

Availability

iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max are available in space gray, silver, midnight green, and gold. Apple has focused on the imaging and multimedia aspects of this year’s iPhones. The company during the launch also emphasized that it used the term “Pro” for the first time because it believes that the iPhone 11 Pro stands out in the segment for its imaging abilities.

All these devices can be preordered starting this Friday, Sept. 13 and shipping starts on Sept. 20. All the new iPhones are rated IP68 dust, water, and splash resistant. As it does every year, Apple said that these new iPhones are faster, better, and more efficient than the previous generation of iPhones. However, only real-time users will be able to judge that.

And an Apple bargain? iPhone 8 price slashed

Apple also slashed the prices of its previous generation of devices, and iPhone 8 is now available for as low as $499 for the base variant. iPhone XR, which surprisingly isn’t discontinued, is now up for grabs starting at $599.
