How to configure domains (outlook 2000) to download internet mail (pop3/SMTP) from/to ISP

Question #958

I’d like to configure my domain’s clients (outlook 2000) to download internet mail (pop3/SMTP) from/to our ISP. We connect to the internet through a newly installed ISA 2000 (CR1). Is there any way to do so (both sides – client and server?

Answer

Create 2 custom IP packet filters allowing for biderectional communication on port 25 with one and port 110 with the other. Choose “Any remote host” or put in the number of the mail server that they are connecting to. This creates a Winsock, or a firewall, connection for the client to remote host communication and should do it.
