McAfee, Inc. Announces Industry’s First 10 Gigabit Ethernet Intrusion Prevention Solution

INTEROP, LAS VEGAS, May 22, 2007 – McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE) today announced the McAfee® IntruShield® 10 Gigabit Ethernet platforms, the first and only network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) appliances to deliver performance of up to 10 Gbps and the highest gigabit port-density available in the industry. The new IntruShield multi-gigabit M-Series platforms are designed to meet the explosive growth of IPS into the network core and data center, as well as the rapid growth of high-performance10 Gigabit Ethernet and IPv6 networks.

“Now that 10G Ethernet is widely deployed, customers need IPS solutions that can keep up, but it’s not just about performance…customers are looking for network security solutions that are more actionable, integrated and efficient,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. “McAfee IntruShield’s ability to integrate both network and system solutions and provide next-generation 10 gigabit performance, offers real value and makes them a strong enterprise solution to protect against network downtime.”

McAfee also announced the introduction of McAfee IntruShield 4.1, which goes beyond IPS by delivering breakthrough network and system integration and collaboration. The new integration is part of McAfee’s security risk management (SRM) strategy, which combines threat protection with risk and compliance management to deliver security solutions that reduce complexity and cost, while increasing efficiency and value.

McAfee IntruShield 4.1 offers enhanced integration with other products in McAfee’s security risk management portfolio, including McAfee Foundstone®, McAfee Network Access Control (NAC) and McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator® (ePO™). The integration of multiple products and technologies provides a more knowledge-driven security solution that’s automated, actionable, and empowers network security teams to be efficient and effective. Features of the new IntruShield 10GigE appliances and IntruShield 4.1 include:

* Enterprise-wide protection for 10GigE and IPv6 networks – Unprecedented multi-gigabit performance and protection for next-generation 10GigE and IPv6 networks. Delivers up to 10 Gbps performance and industry’s highest port-density, all on McAfee’s award-wining network-class platform.
* Faster time-to-protection -Enhanced integration with McAfee ePO allows real-time visibility of host details, host IPS attacks and spyware events, all with a simple right click. McAfee ePO combines with IntruShield’s behavior-based host quarantine and adaptive rate limiting/QoS to significantly increase time-to-protection.
* Faster time-to-confidence – Integration with McAfee Foundstone provides ‘scan now’ functionality giving real-time threat relevance and vulnerability details, on-demand. This combines with IntruShield’s integrated behavior-driven Network Access Control and dynamic post-admission control to deliver faster time-to-confidence.

The importance of securing your network from threats, while keeping your network up and running, is highlighted in a recent Infonetics report titled, “Reducing Downtime Costs with Network-Based IPS.” The report looks at revenue and employee productivity losses due to DoS (Denial of Service) attacks and malware affecting clients, servers, and the network. Infonetics research shows how companies of all sizes are affected by security downtime, and discusses how implementing network-based IPS can drastically reduce the costs associated with security downtime. The report found that total security downtime costs for large organizations surpasses $30M and up to 2.2 percent of annual revenue.
