Windows XP isn’t the only OS slated to en mainstream support next year.  Certain versions of Microsoft’s free Hyper-V Server hypervisor are also slated to end support next year as well.  As a long time user of Hyper-V Server, I looked up the various dates for Hyper-V server and here is what Microsoft says:

Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 10/22/2009 1/14/2014 1/8/2019
Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 4/12/2011 Review Note Review Note   Support ends 12 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product’s support lifecycle, whichever comes first. For more information, please see the service pack policy athttp://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/#ServicePackSupport.
Hyper-V Server 2012 10/30/2012 1/9/2018 1/10/2023

On another note, did you know that Microsoft has an online database to check these things out?  You can access it here ->  http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/
