Last month, Microsoft released an overview of the new patching process for Windows 8 Modern UI apps (formerly known as Metro) and it has some IT professionals singing the blues. Woody Leonhard over at InfoWorld called it “a disaster waiting to happen.” The major issues: no advance warning when a patch is coming, no differentiation between security patches and other updates, no version numbers and revision history, and worst of all: no way to roll back.
