Sneak preview: New Azure logo coming to your Azure Portal

That Azure logo you are so used you seeing? It’s going away. A few days ago, Microsoft announced that Azure will have a new logo that will be part of the Microsoft family of products that they call the Microsoft Fluent Design System.

The Microsoft Fluent Design System is actually a pretty big deal. It was first unveiled in 2017 as a way to give developers an easy jumpstart to develop across many platforms. As Microsoft puts it, “Fluent is an open-source, cross-platform design system that gives designers and developers the frameworks they need to create engaging product experiences — accessibility, internationalization, and performance included.”

So, what about our new “fluent” Azure logo? In Microsoft’s words, it is “carefully crafted to look familiar to what customers know and love while representing the agile future of our business.”  Here is the new logo (left) and the old one, side by side.
