New ISA Firewall Appliance Connects Branch Offices

The new ISA appliance, ThinPrint Branch Office Box, connects remote offices without requiring a separate server and optimizes WANs

ThinPrint will be at the CeBIT (Hall 3, C31 and Hall 7, A38) unveiling its new hardware appliance, the ThinPrint Branch Office Box, which simply and securely connects remote offices and optimizes Wide Area Networks.

The ISA Firewall appliance was developed in cooperation with Microsoft. The box includes a preinstalled ISA 2006 Firewall from Microsoft and therefore offers simple plug-and-play connection of remote offices – without using a separate server – including firewall, VPN gateway, and web filter.

The integrated ThinPrint .print technology also lets the box function as a print server and enables central management of the printers in the branch office. Furthermore, the appliance supports all features of ThinPrint’s print management solution, .print, such as bandwidth control, DRIVER FREE PRINTING, and adaptive compression of print data to down to 1% of its original size.

If the ThinPrint Branch Office Box is used both in the branch office and at the data center, both devices can communicate with each other and synchronize the printer objects. The robust, compact, and fanless design of the ThinPrint Branch Office Box makes it suitable for use in industrial environments as well as at the office desk.

“Small and middle-sized companies cannot connect their branch offices more simply and simultaneously more securely,” states Charlotte Künzell, General Manager at ThinPrint GmbH. “With our box, they can trust in all of the advantages of the proven ISA 2006 Firewall, can optimize their WAN with our print management solution, and, at the same time, they have much lower license fees than when they purchase the individual components separately.”

The ThinPrint Branch Office Box is available from more than 500 authorized ThinPrint partners in over 80 countries. List price is 2.775 euros plus tax.
