RSA: What’s Old is New Again

Kurt Stammberger, who started the annual security-related gathering of IT professionals known as RSA back in 1991 (twenty-five years ago!), noted this week as RSA 2016 kicked off in San Francisco that the issues inherent in the current Apple vs. FBI case are the same basic ones that defined the Clipper Chip issue in 1993. 

In many ways, the IT world has changed tremendously over the last two plus decades but in others, the more things have changed, the more they’ve stayed the same – and the problems that we face in protecting our data today aren’t really that different from the challenges we were addressing way back then.
