Salesforce, Google announce new strategic partnership

Google just announced a new strategic partnership with Salesforce in an effort to provide more collaborative experiences for customers. The Salesforce-Google partnership means that tools like Google Analytics will be integrated with the Salesforce platform in more intuitive ways. Specifically, Salesforce has named G Suite as its preferred provider for email and productivity features. And it also plans to use the Google Cloud Platform for its core services as the company works to expand its international infrastructure.

The two companies are currently working on a few specific integrations that could impact enterprises. Here’s some more information about those initiatives and the Salesforce-Google partnership.

Salesforce Lightning for Gmail and Google Sheets

salesforce-googleThe integration of Salesforce Lightning with Gmail and Google Sheets allow you to access Salesforce CRM data within Gmail and see customer interactions from Gmail within Salesforce. The ability to access data from both of those sources together should help enterprises serve customers faster and communicate more effectively.

You can also embed Google Sheets anywhere in Salesforce and easily input data from Salesforce Records or Reports to a new Sheet. You can even set your data to automatically update both within Sheets and Salesforce to ensure that your whole team has the most recent information no matter what program they reference.

Quip Live Apps for Google Drive and Google Calendar

Quip Live Apps will also offer a more collaborative and open environment by integrating with Google Drive and Calendar. With the new integrations, you’ll be able to embed files from Drive, including Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets, inside Quip. You can also set your Google Calendar to update in Quip Live Apps so you’ll always have access to that information in the cloud-based environment as well.

Salesforce for Hangouts Meet

If your team ever uses Hangouts Meet to communicate with clients or customers, you might also benefit from an integration between that program and Salesforce. The integration will allow users to access relevant customer and account details from Salesforce CRM directly within the Hangouts Meet interface. This gives you access to those insights directly in the communications platform so you don’t have to click back and forth or leave your clients or customers waiting while you dig around for the information you need.
